CPAP Therapy

CPAP is the most common and effective therapy for treating most cases of obstructive sleep apnea. In CPAP, a continuous flow of pressurized air is provided with a face mask. Pressure settings are determined by a medical provider based on the patient’s individual needs. Portable CPAP devices are also available.

BiPAP Therapy

BiPAP, or bilevel therapy, is the preferred treatment option for those suffering from severe cases of sleep apnea, as well as conditions such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). In bilevel therapy, a machine alternates between two pressures. This allows the patient to breathe in with greater pressure and breathe out against lower pressure. BiPAP is often recommended for patients struggling to acclimate to CPAP.
